World trip: A little bit more about our story

The world trip is a dream that is coming true. After so many years thinking about it and a couple more planning it, we finally pursued this long sought-after desire. Initially the world trip was going to be a thing for two, just Ruth and me, but a few months before we took the most important step to start the journey, we received the news that Ruth was pregnant.

It wasn’t bad news, first because we wanted to have a kid and second because we had more time to save some money and plan a bit more.

I was working in the juice industry for the company formerly known as Citrovita and which is now Citrosuco – the world’s largest orange juice manufacturer. I had a good position and a stable job which gave us the support we needed before we started.

In the end everything went well, and we finally launched this personal project. Even better, it was with the full support of the company and our colleagues – and my boss even gave me some of his private miles for flight tickets, which made purchasing the intercontinental flights a lot easier.

That was the final push we needed and that’s when Family Travel Secrets was born: a blog with the aim of bringing family, friends and readers a bit closer to us while we explore our beautiful planet and share the stories of our adventures.

One of the key elements to ensure that the trip lasts for the time we need and that the three of us remain healthy the whole time is to have a good and balanced diet. When I say diet, that also means drinking lots of fluids to avoid dehydration and absorb minerals and vitamins needed for the journey. When we consider that we have a 4-year old child with us this is even more important, for his health and his growth.
