Third stop: South America, part II

While exploring the desert, like in Atacama and other inhospitable places like Uyuni, we didn’t find supermarkets everywhere we went. In those places, we always had some bottles or cartons with concentrated juices, such as orange, grape, peach, etc.

In Arequipa we found a place serving different types of fresh juice near our hostel, and it was great to have orange and strawberry juices – the latter blended with milk.

One of the best excursions we did in South America was to Colca Canyon, an amazing natural landscape. On the way to Colca we stopped in a place serving Colca Sour, the version of Pisco Sour from Arequipa. It is made from a local cactus called Sancayo, rather than lime. Of course they would say that this was better than the famous Pisco Sour that can be found everywhere in Lima. We tried both, and honestly enjoyed Colca Sour a bit more …
